History of "The Sheilan"
- 30 October 1916: Subdivision LP7493 surveyed and approved by Shire of Lillydale on 31 December 1916, this land becomes part of lot 24.
- 24 February 1917: Part Crown Allotment 23A2 owned by John Edmond Taylor and Australias Sharp
- 27 February 1924: Transferred from Taylor and Sharp to Emily Rosa Whisson (vol 4820 fol 963824)
- 7 September 1928: Caveat 77119 lodged, possibly giving Walling an interest in the land
- 1933: lot 10 created with subdivision LP13762 from existing lot 24 (LP7493)
- 16 October 1935: EW shown as owner of lot 10 on Certificate of Title vol 6009 fol 1201619
- 17 May 1943 Certificate of Title issued showing Lot 10 transferred by Edna Walling to Agnes Margaret McGeoch of Repatriation Hospital, Bundoora, nursing sister [vol 6009 fol 1201619; vol 6622 fol 1324232]
- 31 January 1965 Agnes McGeogh dies [vol 6622 fol 1324232]

"Each time Edna Walling sub-divided the land she purchased in the early 1920s, she sold lot's to "like-minded" people.
In the 1930's, such a person, Miss McGeogh, a single lady of Scottish ancestry and nursing sister at Heidleberg Repatriation Hospital purchased the land which is now 5 Bickleigh Vale Road. An agreement was negotiated with Edna Walling which allowed for the construction of a Scottish crofter's cottage. So "The Sheilan" (Scottish for Resting Place) was built with the small cottage at the front gate already being on the title. Edna Walling had the overarching say in the construction of the cottage and was involved in the building of the two stone chimneys and garden landscaping..."

The small front garden is quite formal with plantings of azaleas, roses, Edna Walling crab apples, camellias, spirea, bamboo, liquidambers, yellow jasmine, weigella and Japanese maples.
