Miss Walling built Sonning Cottage with Lilydale Rock however only grey stones were being quarried at the time we built Sonningfield Cottage. Miss Walling sourced her stones locally and built both Sonning I and Sonning II after Sonning I was destroyed in a fire. Paul our stonemason took his garden trailer up each time he needed rock supplies and selected his Castlemaine Rock by hand ensuring to get the odd dark brown stone to highlight in the walls.
