Nearly 80 years after Edna Walling designed and built Badgers Wood, the brilliance of her approach to integrating garden and the house is exemplified at Badgers Wood. From each room there are different glimpses of the garden, trees and the birds. In the original rooms of the cottage you feel as though you are sitting in the garden, you can almost touch & smell the roses! In fact, we turn the sofa in the library around to face the garden in the summer and the open fireplace in the winter!
The original cottage was beautifully extended in the 1980's, with the extension designed by Brian McKeever, who grew up as a boy at Badgers Wood. He clearly knew the garden well, as the additional rooms provide some of the best views of the garden, including a magnificent view of the elm from the master bedroom. We have maintained the heritage of the external aspects, whilst updating the interior in line with current trends. |

The kitchen and what we call 'Edna's Room' (the original living area) is lined with pine boards. It made the rooms dark, quaint, 'olde worlde'.
But, a coat of paint and new led lights have now made it much brighter |
We love living in Badgers Wood. It has wonderful living areas, two open fires and the best master bedroom.
The collection of photos below show some of these spaces and how they have changed in style over time. |
